The Distillery: Sadler's was founded in 1861 by Nathaniel Sadler in Lye, a town in the middle of the Black Country, an area in the English West Midlands famous for its coal mines, steelworks and iron foundries. It is said that the name was due to the black color of the houses and the ground caused by the soot from industrial pollution that characterized this area near Birmingham. At the time, pubs in the area were most likely frequented by members of the infamous Peaky Blinders street gang. The company was expanded by Thomas Alexander Sadler and was transformed into a brewery and today, after over 5 generations, it has passed into the hands of Chris Sadler who launched the products of the Peaky Blinders range, inspired by the British television series, created by Steven Knight.
