Langhe Rosso Doc Niséo - Cravanzola

Langhe Rosso Doc Niséo - Cravanzola

Elegant ruby red, obtained with the Libera Natura ecological project, promoted by the Castellinaldo Vinaioli Association and certified by Bureau Veritas. In mythology, Niséo is another name for the god Dionysus. It derives from that of the nymph Nisa, who raised Dionysus on Mount Nisa. Expressing environmental purity, the Cravanzola company has chosen it to distinguish its red wine resulting from the Libera Natura project. Vineyard cultivation is essentially based on agronomic operations capable of respecting the soil and the surrounding environment and paying particular attention to safeguarding health: grassing and green manure provide significant contributions of organic substance for the improvement of the soil structure and adequate nutrition for plants. Any mimic weeding is banned and the fight against vine pathogens is carried out with active ingredients with low environmental impact. Similar rigor is applied in cellar operations: the control of the fermentation temperature precedes an adequate period of maturation and refinement in steel containers, without any mimic and technological exasperation.

The Cellar: It was 1930 when Carlo Annibale Cravanzola founded his company in Castellinaldo d'Alba to cultivate vineyards and produce wine. Even then he understood that this was above all a precious wine land. Today, after almost ninety years, the new generations continue the same work with just as much passion, with one eye on the territory and another on the market of the entire world. The cellar spaces, large and technically equipped, occupy the work environments of the Cascina Schiavenza, located in the upper village of the town. Even the vineyards, the great heritage of the company, are in Castellinaldo d'Alba, scattered here and there on various hills but always cultivated with rigor and enthusiasm. In relation to their location they reveal different production vocations, capable of producing grapes and wines with well-defined, precious and original characters every year. In Campiano, the Cravanzola vineyards are oriented to the west; here the Arneis and Nebbiolo vines prevail. On the opposite side, rises the majestic hill of San Pietro, a long and steep slope, where mainly the Nebbiolo, Barbera and even Arneis and Favorita plants live. Finally, climbing towards the north-east beyond the town centre, there is the large hill of Bricco del Conte which reserves the sunniest slopes for the Barbera, Nebbiolo and Favorita vines.
