Irish Whisky Peated Single Malt - Connemara
Connemara takes its name from the breathtakingly beautiful landscape in the west of Ireland, with rugged mountains, clear, clean lochs and heather-covered bogs. Connemara is something very special: it is the only Irish malt whiskey made from malted barley malted over a peat fire. The rising smoke gives the barley the typical smoky flavor that connoisseurs of a twisty malt love so much. The twisty malt is distilled in traditional copper stills. Cooley distillery is an Irish distillery located right on the Cooley peninsula and the result of a conversion, in 1987, of an old factory that distilled potatoes.

The Distillery: Located right on the Cooley Peninsula and the result of a conversion, in 1987, of an old factory that distilled potatoes. Since 2014, after a change of ownership to Beam, it has become part of Beam Suntory. The variety of production means that both the still and column methods are used in this distillery and, typically, a double distillation is carried out. Connemara has won over 300 awards in its history and was awarded 'Distillery of the Year' in 2008 by the International Wine and Spirit Competition and 'Distillery of the Year' in 2010 by The Malt Advocate.
