Single Malt Whiskey 50 years - The Glenturret

As the years have passed, this ultra-rare spirit has developed ever-increasing complexity and depth, unaware of creating history and flavor in equal measure.

The 50 Year Old Whiskey was drawn from a singular remnant cask, filled in 1972 and which has spent the last fifty years maturing in a filled Sherry cask, achieving a beautiful old oak colour.

Type: Whisky

Origin: Scotland

Aging: 50 years

Alcohol content: 42.8%

Format: 70cl

Tasting Notes: Antique oak colour. The nose is very rich in suggestions, from the aromatic sweetness of the sweets clearly present in the background to the fresh apple up to warm notes of honey. Flavor of green wood, syrup pudding, dried plums and a light touch of anise harmonize in a sip full of nuances.

The Distillery: An extraordinary story, which has its roots in the myth of Whiskey Glenturret Distillery has been a point of reference in Scotland for centuries, so much so that it has been defined as Scotland's Oldest Working Distillery, the oldest still active distillery in the country. During its long life it was visited by writers and poets, including Robert Burns, and acclaimed by ministers and princes: its master distillers were one of its most precious treasures and gave life to unique spirits, representative of the philosophy of this Scottish jewel. Glenturret has been the subject of study by the historian, Roland Kissling who attributes its birth to 1763, thanks to a rental document from Sir Patrick Murray of Ochentyre, the founder, dating back to that year tasting a Glenturret means tasting the the most authentic and ancient essence of Scotch Whisky.
