Single Malt Peated Distillers Edition Whiskey - Connemara

 Connemara Distillers Edition is a limited edition produced specifically for the French market. It's a superb example of a lightly peated Irish whiskey: an alternative to a classic Islay Scotch whisky with a more earthy, peaty style. This Irish whiskey matures first in Bourbon casks and then in Sherry casks.

 Tasting Notes: The nose presents smoky, briny oyster notes, complemented by notes of juniper, sweet caramelized orange, and green apple candy. On the palate, it is quite oily, light, and smooth, with smoky notes of apple, juniper, and caramel. It concludes with a clean, fresh finish characterized by hints of smoke, black pepper, juniper, and lemon zest.

 The Distillery: Located on the Cooley Peninsula, the distillery was converted from an old potato distillery in 1987. Since 2014, after a change of ownership to Beam, it has been part of Beam Suntory. The distillery's diverse production methods mean it uses both pot and column stills, typically double distilling. Connemara has won over 300 awards throughout its history and was named "Distillery of the Year" by the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2008 and "Distillery of the Year" by The Malt Advocate in 2010.
