 Distillery: It all started in the basement bar of the Arora family home in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2010. Chander Arora, an entrepreneur and former textile chemist, always dreamed of one day distilling his own spirits. One summer afternoon, Chander and his daughter, Nina Arora, were hanging out at the bar discussing topics for her college finals. At the same time, Chander began making cocktails for himself and his wife, Sodhi. That's when Nina came up with the idea of why we can't blend two real spirits together instead of diluting vodka, tequila, or whiskey with a mixer. That was our Eureka moment! After spending hours brainstorming and researching that night, forgetting time due to all the excitement, they created the most daring combination! A blend of vodka and tequila! If distilled properly, this would be a smooth, bold blend that everyone could enjoy. The next step was turning an idea into reality. It was then that Chander and Nina, a student at Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, AL, made the next move. Using their circle of friends, they eventually landed in the lab at Florida Caribbean Distillers, a distillery in Auburndale, Florida. Chander, with a background in the textile industry, entered the lab with an idea for how to properly blend these two spirits using thermal mixing techniques, something that obviously couldn't be done at home by simply mixing the two spirits by hand. Due to a lack of funds for sample testing, they decided to ask for volunteers at the distillery. Come on, who doesn't want to try some spirits?! They both spent over four weeks working on the formula until they had created the perfect blend: vodquila!
