Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG - Boscarelli
This Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG, from the Poderi Boscarelli winery, was proposed again in 2010 almost twenty years after its last edition in 1992. This is because from 26 years ago to today, the Poderi Boscarelli company has progressively replanted the vineyards, selecting specific clones based on the relevant soil and climate conditions. Only in 2010, an increased complexity and structure was found in the grapes of the first replantings, enough to convince the Poderi Boscarelli winery to re-propose the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG vinified with only the native Sangiovese Prugnolo Gentile and Colorino grapes. A great return.

Tasting Notes: Ruby red tending to garnet with aging. It is deep, pure, rich and complex on the nose, with floral and fruity scents which are further enriched by aromas of liquorice, tobacco and leather. Waves of fruit arrive during tasting which saturate the palate from start to finish. He is still young but shows that he already has a strong character and an excellent structure. Over the course of a decade, it will certainly refine its organoleptic components, becoming a great wine in all respects.
Pairings: It should be combined with important and structured preparations based on red meat and game. To be tried with goose in balsamic vinegar, or as a meditation wine, at the end of dinner it is excellent with good Parmigiano Reggiano.
The Cellar: Boscarelli is a small and historic family business, a symbol for the entire Montepulciano area, the first to believe in the potential of an area so close to Montalcino. We are in fact about 300 meters above sea level, towards the Valdichiana, in a terroir where the microclimate is particularly suitable for the production of quality wines. At the helm of the winery are the grandchildren of the legendary Egidio Corradi, who founded the company in 1962. Among the rows, which extend for approximately 14 hectares, Sangiovese is the most present vine, with several clones. We then find other native varieties such as Mammolo Canaiolo and Colorino, together with renowned international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The quality of all the production is very high, a reflection of impeccable work and continuous maximization of the expression of the different soils. The harvest phase differs depending on the ripeness of each grape, and even in the cellar the individual varieties ferment separately and this also happens for the ripening phase. A philosophy that requires a lot of work, but which allows the deepest character of each plot to be expressed.
