The Winery: Recently founded on the Isola delle Vignole in the Venice Lagoon, Società Agricola Biniola Srl aims to revive the area's ancient winemaking tradition. The company's name refers to the current Isola delle Vignole, which was once known as Biniola or Isola delle Sette Vigne (Island of the Seven Vines), and which was popular with the Venetians and likely even the ancient Romans as a holiday destination. At that time, it was directly bordered by the Adriatic Sea, as the Punta Sabbioni coastline had yet to fully develop. The island is located northeast of Venice, between Sant'Erasmo and Certosa. It is actually made up of two subunits separated by a canal and connected by a bridge. Like nearby Sant'Erasmo, the sparse population is engaged in horticulture.
