Japanese Whiskey Single Malt Matsui Mizunara Cask - Kurayoshi
There is nothing better for a Japanese whisky than aging in classic Mizunara oak casks, just like this Matsui single malt.
Type: Whisky
Origin: Japan
Alcohol Content: 48%
Format: 70cl with Gift Box
Tasting Notes: Bright gold in color. The nose is fresh and floral with notes of vanilla, pear, cinnamon, and a light dusting of powdered sugar. The palate is smooth with notes of barley malt, cinnamon, caramel, and honey. The finish is medium-lingering with notes of caramel, honey, vanilla, and tea leaves with floral notes.
Distillery: Kurayoshi is located between Osaka and Hiroshima, in Tottori Prefecture, at the foot of Mount Daisen. The distillery has only been producing single malts for a few years, but the results are truly remarkable. The Matsui Single Malt Whisky series consists of three releases: in addition to the Peated, there are two other unpeated single malts, one aged in Mizunara casks and the other in cherry (Sakura) casks. The Matsui Single Malt Mizunara Cask is an unspecified Japanese whisky, aged in Mizunara Japanese oak casks before being bottled at 48% ABV without added colorants. The water used for dilution comes from the springs of Mount Daisen. The limited-edition packaging is inspired by the work of Katsushika Hokusai, one of the most famous Japanese ukiyo-e artists (literally meaning "painting of a floating world"). What we see depicted is one of his works: “Umezawa in Sagami Province”, one of the paintings from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.
