Rum Dark Chocolate Flavored - Deadhead

Dark Chocolate Flavored Rum - Deadhead

This rum is made with sugarcane juice and molasses. Sugarcane juice is fermented and distilled in copper kettles. Maturation takes place in American oak barrels. The molasses is distilled in column stills and matures in American oak and Chiapas oak barrels. Once the maturation process is finished, the finest chocolate is added. The rum matures for another 60 days. This special recipe was inspired by ancient Mayan and Aztec recipes, and this shrunken monkey head is a tribute to the spiritual faith of both tribes. The deadhead bottles are produced in Veracruz, a city rich in tradition in Mexico. Premium rums appear as shrunken heads, which were brought home by Mexican natives as a victory trophy after a fight. The appearance of the bottles also reflects the so-called "Día de Los Muertos", the Day of the Dead, a traditional Mexican holiday.

The Distillery: Founded in 1945 in Veracruz, Deadhead Rum is a Mexican brand that produces rum from the cane juice and molasses of sugar cane plants from the jungle of Chiapas, a southern state of Mexico. Deadhead is a Mexican rum with a balanced and intense flavour, whose dark color comes from the characteristic brown liquid of molasses, coffee, chocolate, allspice (a spice very similar to pepper), cinnamon and nutmeg, all aromas which are transmitted to the palate together with the flavors of cloves, anise and caramel. These three spices sweeten the vigorous Deadhead rum, dark and deep, reaching a wonderful balance that leaves a pleasant spicy note in the finish. Deadhead is a rum aged 6 years in charred American oak barrels, presented in a curious tribal bottle, with a dark and dark: its shape is a head in the shape of a monkey, or a skull, which refers to the tsantsa, shrunken human heads used for ritual purposes. The indigenous people of the Amazon prepared the tsantsa starting from the removal of the skull, followed by the procedure of shrinking the head: a religious practice to imprison the spirit of the enemy, who could not thus avenge his death. For this reason, it is believed that owners of the tsantsa are protected from evil spirits. This is why this "head" is a perfect collectible bottle, but it can also be a very original and fun gift idea.
