Tasting Notes: Straw-yellow in color with a light frothiness. A fresh, fruity bouquet with distinct floral notes typical of the Moscato grape. On the palate, it is delicate, slightly sparkling, refreshing, and sweet.
Pairings: Excellent with fruit tarts, avoiding the orange marmalade. Perfect with almond-based desserts and biscuits, and with all dried fruit, such as Tuscan cantucci. It is a very rich and pleasant wine, with remarkable balance, and is typically paired with classic leavened desserts such as panettone, colomba, and pandoro. It elegantly complements a meal, but its moderate alcohol content makes it a delicious natural beverage, best enjoyed chilled on any occasion and also as an ingredient in thirst-quenching cocktails.
The Winery: Cascina San Mauro is the estate's main site, located in the municipality of Castagnole delle Lanze, a town in the Province of Asti bordering the municipality of Neive. The farmhouse was built on a hilltop and is reminiscent of a classic mid-19th-century Piedmontese courtyard, enclosed by perimeter walls with a large central farmyard. The vineyards envelop the estate in a stunning landscape. Cascina Vallone is a small farm in the hamlet of Piani di Castagnole Lanze; the vineyard faces east, overlooking the Langhe. The soils on this farm are particularly sandy, sedimentary, and therefore suitable for red grapes. The vineyards, trained primarily using the Guyot system, produce fine wines. Tenuta San Mauro is an ancient family passion: Mauro inherited his mother's passion for wine, a commitment to authenticity at all costs, and his father's love for the land, for ancient agriculture, its traditions, and its values.
