Mezcal Reposado Agave Worm - Lajita
The word "Mezcal" comes from the Aztec Nahuatl language and means "cooked agave." The difference from tequila lies in the use of different agaves, different origins in Mexico, and different production methods. The agave hearts are cooked for days in a covered earthen pit. Reposado Mezcal Lajita with agave worm contains a larva, also commonly called gusano. This worm is prized as a delicacy in Oaxacas, Mexico's largest mezcal-producing state. Among other things, this larva is also used as a trademark and is supposed to demonstrate the high quality standards of this agave spirit. The Distillery: Mezcal Lajita is a classic, smoky, earthy mezcal produced by the renowned Licores Veracruz in Oaxaca, Mexico. Triple distillation and aging in oak barrels for over five months yield a refined flavor and quality. Each bottle contains a single agave worm, a traditional guarantee of the mezcal's quality. This 100% agave mezcal received the coveted title of "Best Mezcal in the US Market" in 1997, a testament to founder Don Jose Villanueva, who spent his life developing the smoothest-tasting spirits possible.
