Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey M Decanter Black 2022 - The Macallan
The Macallan M Decanter Black is a tribute to tireless creativity and craftsmanship: the balance between classic Macallan and an unexpected peat flavor makes this whiskey an absolute excellence. The bottle was designed in collaboration with Fabien Barons and Lalique. An expressive decanter in the shape of black crystal. Lalique is one of the leading companies in the crystal industry in France. Fabien Baron is the creative director of the Baron & Baron brand. Thanks to the constant development of the Macallan, this whiskey has become deeper than most smoked Macallans. The whiskey contained in The Macallan M Decanter Black Release is a carefully selected blend of matured single malt whiskies, chosen by the Master Whiskey Maker to create a harmonious and complex flavor profile. The exact blend and stated age may vary from one release to another, as The Macallan's Master Whiskey Maker curates each batch to deliver a unique and exceptional whiskey experience. The Macallan is renowned for using the finest oak barrels for maturation and the M Decanter Black Release is no exception. The whiskey is matured in a combination of sherry-flavoured oak casks, giving the final product rich, robust flavours. This maturation process contributes to the whisky's depth, complexity and distinctive notes of dried fruit, spice and oak. This series of Macallan Decanters defines the heart of Macallan.

The Distillery: Macallan is located on the western bank of the River Spey, near the city of Aberlour in an old estate of 158 hectares of which 37 are intended for the cultivation of barley, inside we find the Easter Elchies House, a manor house built in 1700 which depicts the classic style of the Highland residences of that period which Macallan took up for the distillery logo. Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid a farmer from the area under the name of Elchies Distillery. It remained under the control of the Reid family until 1858 when it was taken over first by James Shearer Priest and James Davidson, and then, in 1968, by James Stuart. The turning point for the distillery came in 1892 when Roderick Kemp, a wine merchant from Elgin and former Talisker distiller, purchased it, expanded it and changed its name to Macallan-Glenlivet (the Glenlivet suffix was removed in 1980). Kemp manages to continuously expand the distillery on the market with excellent results, laying solid foundations both for the spirit and for the Macallan brand and reputation. In 1950 he began a long program of modernization and expansion of the distillery following continuous and growing market demand which led Macallan, in 1970, to have tripled its production with over 4.5 million liters per year, with a constant increase in stills from 6 in 1965 to 21 in 1975.
