Classique - Rupert Rothschild Vignerons
 
Matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. This South Africa Western Cape Red Classique, produced by Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons, is a beautiful blend between Bordeaux wisdom and South African tradition. It expresses good complexity in both smell and taste.

Tasting Notes: Deep and deep ruby red. It has fresh and lively scents, reminiscent of raspberries, wild strawberries and dried herbs. On the sip it is well balanced, with aromas attributable to ripe black fruit, bay leaf, white pepper and tobacco. Precise and clean from start to finish, it has good persistence.
 
Pairings: It is excellent with tender meat or paired with a good, lightly seared beef fillet, with a side of truffle-flavoured potato puree.
 
The Cellar: From the collaboration between La Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild and the Rupert family, both sharing a strong passion for wine, Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons was born in 1997. Located in South Africa, at the foot of Simonsberg Mountain, the company is located in the valley where, over three hundred years ago, the first French Huguenots moved to grow vines, having found in this area a territory similar to that of some regions wine producers in France. In addition to producing high quality wines, Rupert & Rothschild is very careful to preserve and respect the environment, a philosophy that is also found in the cellar, where the grapes arrive only if they are in their optimal state of health and ripeness. The vinifications require minimal artificial intervention, and barriques, French oak barrels or concrete tanks are used to refine the wines. Three labels in all, at the moment: a pure Chardonnay and two blended reds obtained from international vines.
