Leo Hillinger took over the winery from his father in 1990. Since the takeover, he has steadily developed his business. Today Hillinger wine is internationally renowned. Since 2010 Hillinger has dedicated himself to organic viticulture.

The Distillery: Leo Hillinger was born in 1967 in Eisenstadt, Austria, and grew up in Jois. His love for wine was born in the cradle, as his father was a wine merchant with a tavern. Leo Hillinger spent his first years of apprenticeship in various wineries in Europe and California. He completed his training as an economist and master winemaker in Germany. His success story finally begins with the acquisition of his father's winery and the purchase of 12 hectares of vineyards. After building and opening his winery in Jois in 2004, Leo Hillinger decided to create his first Wineshop & Bar. He now has four, spread across Austria. 2012 was the year he became the first winemaker to be named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by business consultancy Ernst & Young. Today Hillinger cultivates 100 hectares of vineyards around Lake Neusiedl, in the Leithaberg region. 30% of his wines are exported to over 20 countries. At the same time, he has always remained true to himself and his vision. This vision and his unconventional approach are ultimately also responsible for the fact that his network has grown and developed over the years. Part of his vision was to squeeze the best wines as close to nature as possible. Over time, various paths have opened up to him and today he is not only a wine producer, but also an investor and a marketing strategist. Today he is an organic winemaker, entrepreneur and ambassador of his region.
