Distillery: Kiyokawa Co. is a leading independent producer of blended Japanese whisky. It is located in the mountainous northern part of Nagano Prefecture, an area known for harsh winters with heavy snowfall and a warm continental climate in summer, ideal for barrel aging. Whisky was introduced to Japan after the end of the feudal era, during the Meiji period, and commercial domestic whisky production began in the 1920s. Japanese whisky is similar to Scottish whisky, as the pioneers of Japanese whisky learned their craft from Scottish whisky masters. Kiyokawa, whose name translates as "clear river," strives to preserve the art of Japanese distillation, combining a progressive spirit with a deep respect for tradition. Production is deliberately limited and the focus is on whisky with a strong identity. The goal is to produce a whisky whose origins are clearly recognizable, working in as pristine an environment as possible, thus ensuring a unique taste and aroma experience. Kiyokawa's current products include Kensei and Nobushi. The Nobushi Blended Whisky, in particular, takes its name from an order of elite warriors, descendants of feudal Japan. Characterized by floral aromas, notes of dried fruit and spices, and woody notes, it is a highly balanced whisky, refined and velvety, extremely pleasant and well-articulated in its aromas.
