Barbera d’Alba DOC Superiore La Ciapa - Rabino

Barbera d'Alba Superiore La Ciapa DOC - Rabino

On the south-east facing side of the Gran Madre hill, one of the Canale sites best suited to viticulture, lie the vineyards from which this Barbera is born, the result of particular pedoclimatic conditions and careful thinning. Vinified in steel, it rests for 24 months in thousand-litre oak barrels for the first refinement, which continues in the bottle for another six months.

Tasting Notes: The purple red of the glass anticipates a dynamic and full sip, characterized by a typical vinous and fruity fragrance which highlights ripe plum and black corns. The olfactory spectrum dwells on floral notes and spicy additions due to the passage in wood, which absolutely does not override the clear correspondence of the wine to the grape variety of origin. Characterized by a pleasant tannic hint, the mouth closes savory and mineral, offering a fresh and persistent path.

Pairings: At the table it goes easily with traditional Piedmontese dishes such as cured meats, risotto and mixed boiled meat. Excellent with lasagna.

The Cellar: A story that begins in 1862 in Canale. The origins of the Rabino family date back to the Middle Ages, the settlement in the Roero, in the same lands that are still owned by the family today, followed their removal from the Alta Langa due to the frequent barbarian incursions. Wine production began in the mid-19th century with a small production reserved for family and friends: a passion that still did not represent a profit. Luigi Rabino, grandfather of the current owner and subsequent descendants, will then market the wines. Already during the period preceding the world wars, many of the varieties still produced were bottled. Sharing, overcoming difficult historical moments of the 20th century and increased demand have made the company today a Roero reality with diversified and almost fully self-sustainable production.
