Barbaresco Costa Russi DOCG - Gaja
Gaja's Barbaresco Costa Russi is a wine made from the vineyard of the same name located in the municipality of Barbaresco. The name is a combination of the Piedmontese dialect term "Costa," which indicates the slope of a hill with the best southern exposure, and the name of the vineyard's former owner, Russi, from whom Angelo Gaja produces this great wine. Barbaresco Costa Russi is made from Nebbiolo grapes, harvested by hand and carefully fermented in steel vats. The wine is then aged in barriques for 12 months, followed by another 12 months in large barrels to bring out the best in its aromas and flavors.

The nose is a triumph: violets and medicinal herbs, toasted notes of coffee, currants and ripe plums, ennobled by hints of mint chocolate. On the palate, the wine is intriguing and robust, rich and deeply structured, with mineral overtones, savory, and endowed with great tannic persistence.
Pairings: An excellent meditation wine, it pairs perfectly with roast and grilled meat dishes, game, mature cheeses and stewed red meat.
The Winery: Gaja has established itself worldwide, shaping not only Barbaresco and Nebbiolo wines, but the entire wine market in recent decades. The Gaja winery, located in the historic center of Barbaresco, produces red wines that have become cult classics among wine lovers. These wines display exquisite class and unique longevity, blending tradition and modernity like no other. Every sip reveals the innate elegance of these bottles. Thanks to the company's cohesive family management, Gaja wines have become legendary, so much so that the 1985 Gaja Barbaresco has been called the best wine ever produced in Italy. The Gaja estate was founded in Barbaresco in 1859, and its great success is largely due to the insight and tenacity of Angelo Gaja. Convinced of the value of the Piedmont terroir and the quality of its wines, Gaja decided to aim for the highest levels, overseeing every detail of production. Gaja's great wines are born from a profound knowledge of the territory, a careful selection of the best parcels, and attentive and meticulous vineyard management, which involves drastically reducing yields to achieve greater intensity and aromatic concentration.
