Alta Langa Extra Brut Millesimato Organic 2019 DOCG - Giulio Cocchi
This Extra Brut cuvée is made from 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay grapes, all organically grown. Grown on the same soil and plot, the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay originate from a vineyard in the Monforte d'Alba area, where factors such as the white soils, dry, calcareous soils, predominantly marly, western exposure, and high altitude combine to produce exceptionally healthy fruit. The vineyard has proven particularly suited to organic farming, producing high-quality grapes that, after careful vinification and a long aging on the lees, yield this Alta Langa Extra Brut, perfectly balanced and of great finesse.

Tasting Notes: Clear and crystalline, straw-colored with greenish highlights. The initial aroma is very delicate and refined. Floral notes of yarrow and hawthorn. Riper notes of broom and acacia then give way to fresh lemon, grapefruit, and pomelo juices. These sensations leave the palate clean and crisp, without any bitterness. A light limey flavor and white pepper accompany the finish of Mediterranean herbs and nori seaweed, lending a smooth and pleasant sip.
Pairings: Perfect as an aperitif and with delicate seafood appetizers. It pairs well with vegetable soups, delicate risottos, baked fish, shellfish, and grilled white meats. Fantastic with bolder, fuller flavors, such as savory, spicy meats like duck, beef, and lamb.
The Cellar: Giulio Cocchi was a young and creative pastry chef from Florence who moved to Asti in the late 19th century. He created original recipes for Barolo Chinato, Aperitivo Americano, and various vermouths, quickly achieving success and fame. Giulio Cocchi's idea, exceptional for the time, was to open authorized retailers where these products could be tasted. Cocchi was a well-known brand during the Belle Époque and on the eclectic scene of the Futurist period. The Cocchi name and products quickly became renowned worldwide, as evidenced by export records: from New York to London, from Sydney to Africa and Venezuela. Cocchi placed great emphasis on quality single-varietal brut sparkling wines, produced using the Italian method since the 1980s, such as CocchiBrut, and, more recently, on the creation and promotion of the Altalanga DOCG, of which Cocchi remains one of the most committed champions. From its founder, Giulio Cocchi, the winery has also inherited an inexhaustible energy and a commitment to quality that has earned it recognition and recognition across five continents. All Cocchi products are wine-based, and the recipes are timeless, codified based on the insights of Giulio Cocchi himself. What defines the Cocchi style is elegance and authenticity, the quality of the wine and ingredients, centuries of technical expertise, and a passion and creativity that have never waned over the years. Since 2012, Giulio Cocchi has been listed in the National Register of Historic Companies of Italy for its first 130 years of uninterrupted business.
