Tequila is a distillate originating in Mexico, obtained from the fermentation and distillation of blue agave (Agave tequilana), originally produced in and around Tequila, Mexico, in the State of Jalisco.
Mescal or mezcal in Spanish is a Mexican distillate obtained from the agave plant and produced mainly in the state of Oaxaca.
