Clinio Rosso IGT - Tenuta Hortense
 
Clinio by Tenuta Fratini is a red that expresses great taste balance and all the harmony typical of the great wines of its territory. The vineyards from which the Cabernet Franc grapes used to produce this Clinio come are located in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, a hamlet of Donoratico, in the province of Livorno. Here the soil is composed of sedimentary rocks, ideal for the ripening of the Bordeaux red grape variety. The care in every phase of the production process is remarkable: careful selection of the best bunches in the vineyard, hand-picked only when they have reached perfect ripeness. Once they arrive in the cellar, the grapes undergo a further selection and only the "perfect" grapes are sent to the fermentation phase in truncated cone-shaped stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature. Fermentation occurs thanks to the action of spontaneous yeasts. At the end of vinification, the wine passes into second and third passage barriques for a slow maturation of no less than 12 months.

Tasting Notes: In the glass it has a beautiful purple-red color with violet reflections. On the nose, however, it reveals great complexity, with the typical sweet Mediterranean notes and fruity sensations that blend, in perfect balance, with the aromatic freshness. A very pleasant wine, it reveals a harmonious tannic texture in the mouth. Refined and persistent, it is a wine that is already good today but which will certainly benefit from a period of rest in the cellar.
 
Pairings: Perfect in combination with red meats and cheeses.
 
The Cellar: The view is always that of Bolgheri, in the municipality of Donoratico, where the vineyard varieties typical of the Bordeaux area are included among the rows of Tenuta Hortense, such as cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Among all the available surface area, the choice of ten hectares of vineyards was not at all random, but rather carefully considered thanks also to the help of expert consultants of the caliber of Eric Boissenot, collaborator of important Bordeaux chateaux, such as Lafite-Rothschild, Margaux and Mouton-Rothschild, and Emiliano Falsini, consultant for important Italian companies belonging to the Barolo and Etna territories. Everything between the rows has been set up with the utmost attention, so with the utmost respect for the environment, nature, ecosystem and biodiversity, the individual plots can enjoy cutting-edge irrigation systems, and every single plant is cared for with extreme meticulousness. After the harvest, carried out exclusively by hand, the grapes arrive in the cellar to be vinified and left to ferment exclusively with indigenous yeasts. Subsequently, aging is carried out in oak tonneau. In this way, bottles capable of touching the highest quality standards come to life: wines that tell all about the extraordinary excellence of the Bolgheri area.
